Ororo Munroe sat on the edge of the roof of Xavier's mansion. To think just a week ago she was an African Wind Goddess. Living off the land and the generosity of tribal people, helping them out by preventing destructive storms and giving life giving water. Learning and finding a balance in the land. And now she was here. In the United States. Not one gifted by the Gods, but a Mutant, one of many. Who were learning to use their powers together to help others, under the guidance of Professor Charles Xavier. It was a challenge getting used to this new urban wilderness. And having such a large and imposing building to live in, compared to living under the stars, so close to the weather and the earth, was unsettling to her. Also the strong tempered and emotionally charged mutants which made their home with Charles didn't help Ororo, or Storm as many nicknamed her, keep her calm. The winds were agitated about the mansion, hollowing and whistiling, as Ororo stared out across the large estate. (e)
Within the amazing mind of Ororo she would come to see a a transparent head floating before her of Charles Xavier. {The weather report stated 56 degrees with a chance for rain.} He allowed his words to squirrel around in her head for a moment before he communicated again. {Home sick? Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. once said "Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts." I understand this place may never be your home, but I hope in time you will accept it as a home that welcomes you with open arms, always.} Within the X-mansion Charles sat within the study where he peered out the window overlooking the south west trees and portion of the garden. Dressed in a modesty dark gray suit with a white shirt and blue business tie. His fingers with diligently folded into each other and resting peacefully on his lap as he sat within his wheelchair.
Ororo blinked as she saw Charles' head appear before her in the air. Hearing his voice in her mind, more than in her ears. His words didn't call her out on her emotions getting the better of her, but his weather report, illustrated how the blustery day and roiling wind whipped clouds didn't match the natural order for this day. Her thoughts did not hide or put up walls to hide them from Xavier. They stood out proudly. A vast and coiled collection of emotions and thoughts which she kept to herself, organzined and kept neatly in place, by one who learned a long time ago that she needed to control her emotions or create dangerous storms. But that didn't stop some emotions from leaking through into the atmohsphere about the mansion. Home sick. yes, He hit the matter on the head. The quote of some scholar or wise man was not familiar to her, but did convey her feeling in a very poetic and apt manner. She could find a small comfort in him trying to reach to her this way. hearing his hope and welcome, made her smile inwardly and through their shared thoughts. "Thank you Charles. I do welcome the challenges this home presents and your hospitality. And in time I think i could be happy here. I will restore the weather pattern back to what was predecited by your seers." she thought back. her thoughts kicked up, as images of colors and tempertatures, wind fronts and moisture levels colored her view of the world, emotions and sensations of the weather she sensed about her, sharing them with Xavier. He could watch her untangle and redirect the patterns to match what was predicted by the weather report. "Do you have any suggestions on something to preoccupy myself to not think of the home where my heart calls to you?" she asked him back through their link.
He was pleased by her response and the restoration of the weather was equally as pleasing. Her response and situation was somewhat difficult for him to empathize and understand as he was an academic mind, scholar, and always striving to improve himself, when he hit what felt like a end of what wealth of knowledge he could possibly learn, he discovered a new well of knowledge in people and discovering how they react to knew information. Everyone was different and everyone had a different reaction to the same information. Some reactions were similar, others were completely random and thus the unpredictable nature was all the more intriguing and inspiring for Charles. With matters of the heart he could speak mostly from little experience. When she came to see his advice for curing an emotional problem, he could only offer suggestions with no guarantee that the solution would work - once more reminding him of the reason he loves education and teaching people new things. With a charismatic beat and inspirational tone one would never think of Charles as a cold and calculating person with moments like this...{I suggest exploring the unknown that is before you. Embracing the environment that surrounds you now. You have a genuine love for our Earth Mother, Ororo...Africa is only 20.3% of our planet, there's 16% you're residing now. Talk to her, feel her in your chest, listen to her when she whispers in your ear, watch and maintain her hair as it grows like yours. We're all meant to co-exist on this beautiful planet, it's for all of us to share.}
The numbers and facts meant very little to her. Her knowledge of weather patterns and their balance were colored with emotions and sensations. She could see very little of Charles' thoughts, just what he told her, but his care and concern seemed genuine. And he his words were poetic, albeit not how she truly felt the weather and nature about her, but was close enough. 'I will try to explore this land and the weather it holds. Caring for it and keeping it's balance here. There are types of weather and phenomenon I am unfamiliar with. Winter will be coming soon. Perhaps trying to coax and explore the cold and ice would show me so much more here." a small smile appeared on her lips, but greater emotion, controlled more this time, appeared to him.
{That is quite true, Upstate New York in the fall is as beautiful as skåne or St. Petersburg during the season. There is much to see and experience ahead of you. In time you'll discover it yourself.} Charles would take this opportunity to show her experiences from his past of walking through Germany and seeing the Berlin Wall, before showing her images of China in the summer where its beautiful flowery trees were blossoming. She would see the swamps of South America where the black caiman swim through the water like an African crocodile. She would suddenly find herself standing on top of the World Trade centers feeling the wind racing around her as the entire city of New York looked like a forest of silver and blue made of steel and glass, with bushes of red brick, berries of tiny white houses. While showing her these images he would feel Ororo's emotional reaction and its easing nature.
Ororo listened to Charle's voice in her mind as he spoke of the beauty and thrill experiencing places she had only heard of. She suddenly she found herself immersed in them. The windwalker had the rare treat of getting to experience a place through someone else's perceptions. Getting to see and feel some of the most striking places in the world from the point of view of a very worldly man. The white haired woman took the experience in stride, very curious at seeing these places like this. As Charles' showed her each location from his memory, he would notice something very striking about Ororo's mind and emotions. Many places of cultral significance failed to register any emotion with her. The Berlin Wall and it's history had no meaning to her. She focused on the clouds overhead, watching the grasses growing about the wall and how they moved with the slight breeze. The flowering trees in china gained a lot of her attention from their beauty, making her feel hints of happiness, a part of her mind monitoring and tracing the breezes as she almost instictively picked up on them from the way the petals fell from the branches and skittered about as they fell. Ororo had no fear of the larg Black Caimans swimming by, giving them the attention one would of an idle fish swimming by. As well as a few emotions of annoyance of such creatures, which she also felt for it's cousin the African crocodile. Charles gained the biggest emotional response from the World Trade Center building. Ororo obviously had no emotional ties to the buildings or the tradegy which occured there. She just simply didn't know much about it. In fact she completely ignored the cityscape and buildings, with their urban beauty. Instead she was exhilerating by the feeling of the wind racing across the bulding top. A thrilling happiness to hear the wind whistle and swirl about the corners of the rooftop. He could feel her reach out with her mind toward the wind, toward those happy feelings, trying to talk and touch them at some level. It was like a child's delight of meeting a friend in an unexpected place. A feeling tucked away behind the careful mental curtains she used to keep these emotions at bay and present her calm stoic exterior and control over her power. "Thank you, Charles. That was very interesting and beautiful." it obvious from ther thoughts that her idea of beauty lay in more than just what she saw. "I hope to see some of these places in person some day. Perhaps we could visit them together sometime."
