Name: Julian Keller
Alias: Hellion, "Jules"
Race: Human (Mutant)
Age: 16-19
Birthday: 08/01/19xx
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 170 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Training: Self defense training while at the Xavier Institute as well as courses in leadership, and strategy. Julian has also shown signs of realizing that the influence and power of his family's money can be used as a weapon.
Inventory: Cell phone, communicator, wallet and other basic on-hand supplies. Also has been shown in the X-Men Hellion attire, as well as the X-Men attire each coming with their own protections and gadgets.
Description
Physique: Julian Keller is a boy of average height and of medium build, black hair, and blue eyes. Hair is generally kept in a messy short (or medium) length (growing out in some issues) style, while his attire (uniform wise, not casual wear) is made to hug his body. This reveals that Julian is in top psychical condition for someone his age - muscular and toned, though not to the degree that one may mistake him for a body-builder. All features together, Julian has been shown to be considered cute/attractive by the opposite (and same?) sex.
Appearance: In terms of civilian attire, Julian favors cargo pants and a simple shirt, normally in dark colors or shades of red, and a light jacket over it. This attire can change based on the situation, and due to his family's money he is able to skillfully outfit himself in dress attire as needed. Mostly attire is meant to be comfortable and fit fashion trends or Julian's own personal tastes. In terms of X-Men uniforms, Julian favors the typical skin-tight armored attire, though he is shown to wear an elbow-length jacket over it at times and gloves with the fingers removed. Like everything else, this is generally done in a red and silver, or red and black color combination.
Personality: While Julian can be considered charming at times, and even very intelligent, this is often overshadows by his brash, judgmental, and egotistical nature. Julian is powerful, he knows he is powerful, and takes pride in this fact - and wants everyone to know it. In competition situations he does not settle for second place, and will put himself (and others) into harm's way to get the win. Outgoing in nature, he has no problems talking to anyone, or showing his pride in being a mutant... Though like a lot of boys his age, he is a troublemaker with a pension for causing mischief and damage to the School. While in a leadership position he is shown to be fiercely loyal to his friends, and refuses to let anything happen to them; contrasting heavily with how he gets his fellow teammates into trouble. A bully in his youth and quick to judge those he didn't view as friendship material, Julian is in need of a strong figure in his life that can guide him without trying to control or strangle his freedom. As he ages - and begins to befriend others - he is shown to be more than glad to stand up for those he doesn't personally like, and even impress those that don't like him. Growing out of his bully stage (though he still tends to think before speaking), Julian has the potential of being a good friend, leader, and overall person.
Character Time Line
Character Origin (part 1): Comic Origins (Reading List Accomplished)
Character Origin (Part 2): Going to bring Julian into the school to be trained, after a falling out with his family - though mostly over the fact of his attitude and that his family is writing him out of the Will if he doesn't improve. Goals are to see him grow among others of his kind, to forge friendships, and to grow into the mutant and X-Man he is able to become. Mostly going to be following what happens in New Mutants (2003), New X-Men: Hellions, and New X-Men as sort of a reference points - though none of the events there have to carry over. Just a general idea of how I'm going to try to portray Julian and how I'd like him to grow.
Year 0 (Prior 2016)
-Born Julian Keller to William and Elizabeth Keller. Little brother to James Keller.
-Julian's powers begin to awaken. Starts to be viewed as the 'black sheep' of the family due to them, as well as his nature to act out.
-Rumors begin around the school that Julian Keller is a 'mutie' or Mutant.
-Acts out in school, using his powers to save/impress a girl. Gets into major trouble, and others begin to view him openly as a 'mutie' and a 'freak.'
-Causes trouble at an airport due to a fight between himself and his older brother. Powers act out, bringing Airport Security into the picture. Family connections invoked to bail him out of trouble.
-Father threatens to write him out of the Family Will unless he straightens himself up. Julian asks to be enrolled into the Xavier Institute in response.
Year 1 (2016)
-Enrolled in the Xavier Institute - plans to become an X-Man and show just how much of a Hero he can be...
-Takes up the name Hellion.
Significant relationships
(Like several other players, I plan to 'reset' Julian's interactions with other members of the school/X-men to ensure that the stories fit with the player-characters instead of trying to make the comics fit in. This way all stories are canon to this universe, and more free-form in nature. Please do not, however, hesitate to shoot me any ideas from the comics and we can maybe discuss them. At such a time I will update this section accordingly.)
William Keller (Father) - A businessman whose company went multi-million dollar thanks to the help of Kingmaker. Views Julian as a troublemaker and in need of growing up. Hard and harsh on him, and hoping the Xavier Institute may help him. Believes Julian should hide his powers as much as possible to 'pass' as human.
Elizabeth Keller (Mother) - While less harsh than Mr. Keller, Julian's mother still seems to believe that he needs to grow up and think on his feet, to follow in their footsteps (somewhat) in going from nothing to everything. Supports her husband most of the time.
James Keller (Older Brother) - Julian's older 'normal' brother and the family favorite (currently). May end up taking over the Keller family business one day, leaving Julian out of the will.
X-Men - Heroes who Julian wishes to grow up to be like, and part of the reason he has the attitude he does when it comes to those weaker or viewed as 'useless' in his eyes. Wants to be the best of the best and make the team...
Powers / Abilities
Advanced Telekinesis - Classified as a first-class telekinetic of extreme strength and magnitude, Julian can easily move, levitate, control, and manipulate people and multiple inanimate objects with ease. Not limited to touch, this manipulation can come through motions of the hand, thoughts, or even just contact of vision.
- Flight - Because of his Telekinesis, Julian is able to fly around with a mere thought reaching subsonic speeds.
Fighting - While not the best in hand-to-hand combat, Julian is no complete slouch, and tends to back up his hand-to-hand combat prowess with his 'TK' abilities.
Shielding - Barriers of 'TK' power that are able to withstand a high degree of abuse based on Julian's focus and current mental strength. The shielding can withstand the friction and wind pressure of moving at speeds beyond the speed of sound, as well as survive fighting Nimrod.
Telekinesis Blasts - Blasts of power shown to be able to do throw objects and people through armor, buildings, and other 'shielded' areas. A good example is when he put Kimura through a building causing her to land over 27 miles away.
Enhanced Durability - Coupled with his shielding ability, Julian has been shown to take high levels of physical abuse and still get up. Could also be attributed to his unrelenting nature.
Force Constructs - Shown to have been able to make platforms, discs to carry team members, and other small shapes and solid surfaces.
Telekinetic Combustion - Similar to the ability of molecular combustion, if Julian's powers get out of hand (caused by high emotional outbursts) they can cause objects to combust.
Enhanced Agility - Use of 'TK' to help move the body, or to react to different things. Julian has also been shown to be pretty nimble without such backup, but tends to favor it in hand to hand situations all the same.
Enhanced Strength - While physically Julian's bodily strength is limited by normal human standards of fitness and muscle strength, with the help of his Telekinesis he can lift at least 10 tons - proven when he knocks Rockslide through a wall.
Matter Manipulation - Julian's powers, at a more advanced/skilled stage, were shown to be able to manipulate matter on a molecular level.
Untapped Potential - Should Julian's mental limiters ever be removed, his 'TK' will gain an insane increase in power - allowing for flight twice the speed of sound (from Dallas, Texas to New York in mere seconds), highly increased power output (plows through a Sentinel), and fine control (stopped instantly after traveling 400+ miles at top speed), and other increased abilities... Of course all of this comes at the price of the damage done to his body.
Attractive Male - While a 'brat' and 'egotistical' Julian has been shown to use his charms, and looks, to help get him in and out of bad situations. While not directly a power, it is an ability that comes in handy.
Insanely Rich - The Keller family has enough influence and money to help Julian when the time comes - even if it upsets his mother and father he would use such connections. An example of this is when he used his family's lawyer to contact Homeland Security when the Hellions were not allowed to board a plane due to their mutant status.
Intellect - Hot-headed and quick to fly into battle, thinking himself superior... When Julian is forced to calm and think about a situation (and sometimes even in the heat of battle) he has shown he is capable of keen thought and insights that have saved the day.
Weaknesses
Ego - Julian likes to talk big, and try to back it up. He is reckless and is willing to do anything to prove his point - at least while young. This has left him in situations that have caused him to get into major trouble, or even put himself (and others) into danger.
Emotions - Julian's emotions are a part of the 'oomph!' in his powers. The downside? Extreme emotions can cause the Telekinesis to react on its own: glowing green eyes, random things flying around or combustion of objects, blasts of power, etc.
Focus - Losing focus means that Julian's ability to manipulate, pull up shields, fly, etc could be cut off. This is a huge weakness as, in a chaotic battlefield, it would be easy to cause a situation that leaves his defenses down.
Unrelenting Nature - Julian charges in first, and thinks later most of the time. While this could be a boon in boosting his power (high emotions behind what he is doing) it is also a bane as it could get him, and those with him, into otherwise avoidable situations...
Fine Motor Control - With his powers, Julian lacks the ability to manipulate smaller objects (IE paperclip), causing them to shoot off or even end up in the grip of random combustion. This improves over time, however, and was mostly due to a sudden increase in his poewrs.
Audition post
“If I hear that word one more time, I'm going to put your head through the wall.” Head tipped up to peer at the much larger – and wider – male from the high school football team. Behind was a young girl, a blonde whose name he didn't know. “You really want to do this dance, Keller?” Richie, the football player, spat down at the smaller youth between him and his target. Julian Keller, sixteen, wasn't about to back down from the challenge before him. The idiot football players, mostly Richie, seemed to have it out for everyone who was... Different. And truth of the matter? The girl behind him probably wasn't even the real deal unlike her protector. “Oh wait, of course you do. You're another of those little mutie freaks aren't you? Probably trying to stick up for your future bitch, to add mo--”
Richie never got to finish, not before the flash of green took over Julian's gaze and the football player – despite his size – found his body being jerked backward. True to his word the attack put cranium directly through the wall... Which was, luckily for them all, the wooden wall of a shed instead of the bricks that the school itself sported. “I told you.” Smug, Julian couldn't really help the fact he enjoyed putting the lesser 'normal' in his place, couldn't help the delight it brought him to be able to protect the blonde girl, as well as to shut up the raciest jock who seemed out to pick on anyone he thought may be a 'mutie' – short for Mutant.
Attention shifted to the girl and Julian was rewarded with a look of shock, of horror. “Y-you're...” The words barely an audible hiccup, before the youth was trying to get away, to put as much distance between herself and her would-be savior as she could. Of course the look wasn't lost on Julian, the youth's expression darkening to something sour. “Great, let me guess. 'Oh no, he's a mutant! He's going to hurt me because he's different.' Man, you normals just don't seem to understand when to say thank you.” A hand moved and a green glow would jerk the now-limp Richie from the wall, pulling him over to drop him near the girl. “I mean, I could have left you to be beaten up by this idio--”
“Mr. Keller, are you listening?” Brought back from the memories of what had landed him into trouble, the youth couldn't help but turn those blue eyes onto the Principal behind the desk that kept them separated. “Your behavior of late hasn't demonstrated what our school is about. You're going around picking on people for fun, starting fights with our football players, and trying to threaten a poor girl? We should have you expelled.” Of course that was the story the players told, even the girl, all in hopes of avoiding the whispers of what he was, and in avoiding being labeled a 'mutie' as well. Even the teachers were quick to buy into it, to avoid causing trouble for the normal students and to help push away those who were born different. And Julian?
“I'm listening, Mr. Jones. But you know what? How about you listen for a change.” Green touched those blue eyes, green ran along the black jacket and baggy cargo pants the youth sported almost daily. Lifting from the chair Julian Keller would slam his palms onto the desk, letting the Telekinetic powers whip the room into a frenzy, letting the older man before him realize the err he had made in pissing off a Mutant. “How about instead of letting your students lie and slander everyone who is different, you get off your fat butt and do something about it.” A trophy for some sport victory would slam into a wall, shattering. “How about you actually try to figure out the truth, instead of blaming me because I was born a mutant.” Bookshelves toppled over, desk contents emptied onto the now-pale man's lap and chest. “How about instead of letting your stupid jocks and idiotic couch spout bullshit, you actually do your job and keep them from causing trouble for people with power. Because those with power...” It was delightful to be able to stand up to anyone, to remind them that he wasn't normal... And he was fine with it, he embraced it and used it to his every advantage. “Aren't scared to use it.” Hands yank back from the desk, causing it to flip forward, even as Julian turned to leave.
“Oh, and Mr. Jones... I'll be contacting my family's lawyer about this.” And then he was through the door, already moving to grab for his cell phone. If they didn't want him here? Fine, Julian already knew where he wanted to be, what he wanted to do... And dealing with bigots and idiots weren't exactly on his list of things to do. No, he was better than them, stronger, and since they didn't know how to accept it? He'd go somewhere that did.
